The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley is your community resource and partner for philanthropic giving in the 7-county region of the Brazos Valley.
Established in 2003, the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley is your trusted partner for charitable giving in your community. We work with individuals, families, businesses and nonprofit organizations to build and manage permanent and quasi-endowment funding sources to support nonprofit organizations, scholarships and community grants. The Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Brazos Valley, today and tomorrow, by advancing community giving to create a sustainable and permanent source of funding for your favorite cause and charity.
We educate donors about issues and organizations in our community and help them create their charitable legacy to support the causes they care about. Funds at the Community Foundation may be established for a specific purpose, or can be left unrestricted. A small percentage of the fund’s value is granted out each year, allowing the fund to continue to grow and serve as a forever funding source.
The Community Foundation accepts a wide range of assets, including securities, real estate, life insurance and deferred gifts. The Foundation is also recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity by the IRS, which allows donors to take the maximum tax deduction possible for their charitable gifts. Foundations assets are managed professionally, and the Board's investment committee including community financial advisors ensures good stewardship of assets.
Seventeen years into this noble venture, the Community Foundation has grown to include over 85 funds, totaling over $9.1 million, and has invested more than $1,300,000 in local causes that serve to change the lives of citizens within the Brazos Valley. In 2018, the Foundation distributed over $208,000 in grants and scholarships to nonprofit charities and higher education institutions.
