Established in 2003, the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley is the leading resource for philanthropic giving in our community. We work with individuals, families and businesses to build and manage permanent endowment funds which provide grants to charitable organizations that are working to improve the quality of life in the Brazos Valley.
We educate donors about issues and organizations in our community and help them create their charitable legacy to support the causes they care about. Funds at the Community Foundation may be established for a specific purpose, or can be left unrestricted, and only a small percentage of the fund’s value is granted out each year, allowing the fund to continue to grow and last forever.
The Community Foundation accepts a wide range of assets, including securities, real estate, life insurance and deferred gifts. The Foundation is also recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity by the IRS, which allows donors to take the maximum tax deduction possible for their charitable gifts. Foundations assets are managed professionally and a skilled investment committee ensures good stewardship of assets. The Community Foundation currently manages assets of over $2.1 Million and generates over $90,000 in grants each year for local nonprofit organizations and scholarships.
