The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley was founded on the belief that by pooling resources and giving within the community, the Foundation could serve as a leader in stewarding endowments to fund important quality of life needs to preserve the life we enjoy today for future generations.
History
During his Citizen of the Year speech at the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce 2002 annual meeting, Mr. Sam Sharp announced that he and his wife, Louise, were donating $5,000 to fund the establishment of local community foundation. Established in 2003, the Foundation was launched by Sam with the legal support of attorneys Larry Holt and Chuck Ellison of Bryan and College Station, respectively. Thanks to Sam’s vision and leadership, a foundation “by the people, for the people” was created to serve as a community resource to help individuals and businesses create permanent endowments to support local charities, nonprofit organizations, faith communities, civic efforts, and scholarships. And as they say, the rest is history!

The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley is committed to ensuring an exceptional quality of life, both today and tomorrow, for the citizens of the Brazos Valley through philanthropic giving, responsible grant making, professional stewardship and collaborative leadership. The Foundation works with donors, businesses and nonprofits to further philanthropy within the 7-county geographic region of the Brazos Valley including Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington.
We are a tax-exempt public charity under 501(c)(3) of the IRS. Donations to any fund at the Foundation, or to the Foundation, are immediately tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.
